User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; fi; rv:1.9.2.9) Gecko/20100824 Firefox/3.6.9 Creative ZENcast v2.01.01
Build Identifier: 3.1.3
Deleted folders from anywhere will be deleted from the IMAP server but will stay in Trash folders of Thunderbird after emptying the Trash folder. If I try to delete them again from the Trash folder Thunderbird will tell me that they doesn't exist on the IMAP server. There is no way to delete them. I can rename them, but no way to delete.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use IMAP account
2.Delete any of your own folders (not the default ones)
3.Empty Trash folder
4.Your own folder will stay on the Thunderbirds Trash folder
Actual Results:
Your deleted own folder will stay on the Thunderbirds Trash folder. This is a bug that had followed on every version.
Expected Results:
Empty the Trash folder of Thunderbird also.
Happens with IMAP servers.
Summary: Deleted folders will be deleted from server but will stay in Trash folders of TB → Deleted folders will be deleted from server but will stay in Trash folder of TB

deletion model, is a setting , no how you delete :D you'll find that in Tools -> Account settings -> Server settings.

Sure first you need to create the log as described on the wiki page above. once you've managed to do that. say so and we'll do next step.

Thanks for helping and so fast reply.
Haha. As you write a typo "impa" I tought you meant something else, sorry.
My TB is not english language and it's very difficult to guess what those values are in english at the latest version. I have googled for pics and if I fully understand this is what you wanted to know:
"Server Settings"
When I delete a message "Move it to the Trash folder"
If not then please tell me more specific, thx.

I made the imap:5 log file and it's a Mumbo Jumbo big one.
What to look from there?
This bug is also in: Thunderbird 5, Fedora; Thunderbird 10.0.11, Solaris 11.
Workaround:
1.Create folder in the same name and same location on server (via web browser).
2.Delete it via Thunderbird
Result: The folder deleted in Thunderbird.

Wayne, I can't remember how often but it have happened a few times. I have currently Thunderbird V17.0.2 with four IMAP accounts on a different servers and those have thousands of emails. I think this bug report can be closed because the issue almost doesn't exist anymore.
