Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.2.9) Gecko/20100824 Firefox/3.6.9
Cannot send messages when in Facebook. Cannot do instant messaging either.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to send message or try to do instant message
2. Type characters, only a few up to none will type
3. Then keyboard is unresponsive
Actual Results:
Had to quit the message and if intant message had to quit the box
Expected Results:
I expected to be able to send the message.
Expected to do instant messaging too.
Works fine in Safari. Would rather use Firefox as it's become the favorite of everyone including me.

I've confirmed this behavior using OCLC's QuestionPoint service with Fifo 3.6.12 agent string below:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 BRI/1 Firefox/3.6.12
QuestionPoint is a browser based chat service that allows librarians to chat with their patrons via an JavaScript based 'qwidget'. The qwidget is using textarea to post the messages from the user (patron) to the librarian.
Following the steps below, we have observed the following issues with FiFo since 3.6 was released.
Steps:
1. User visits a page containing the qwidget. Example:
2. User submits a question to a librarian
3. Librarian picks up the session
4. The user attempts to reply when they experience the symptoms.
Symptoms:
- The user is unable to type in the qwidget’s message box even after clicking the cursor in that box repeatedly.
- The use’s chat messages will ‘drop’ characters as they type in the Qwidget’s message box
- The user’s chat messages will ‘cache’ in the qwidget’s message box. That is the patron will be typing but won’t see what they typed until it appears in a burst.
Feel free to contact me via email to arrange a time to test.

Gayla, is this still a problem on the latest version (3.6.12)?
David, could you file a separate bug for the problem you describe? It's possible they are the same problem, but there might be different causes to this similar behavior.
