Horizontal and vertical scrolling does not work on all pages when using laptop trackpad or Thinkpad trackpoint+middle button. Scrollbar is present but no action get taken.

This issue was not present in Firefox 4.0b4 or earlier.

Scrolling with mouse scroll wheel works fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open any webpage with content spanning over more than one page and vertical scrollbar is visible.
Attempt to scroll vertically using trackpad on laptop.
Actual Results:
Page does not scroll.

Expected Results:
Page should scroll per preset number of lines.

No addons installed, smooth scrolling and autoscrolling on/off does not make any difference.

Using synaptics driver version 11.1.21.0 on Thinkpad Ultranav pointing device.
Horizontal and vertical scrolling works in adobe reader, windows explorer, Firefox 4.0b4, etc.
Severity: normal → critical
I confirm I have the same issue. Same config as submitter. Lenovo thinkpad z61t, winxp x86, FF 4b6, etc.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b6) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b6
I confirm I have the same problem.

Firefox 3.6.11
synaptics driver 14.0.4
gateway laptop 14d07u
windows 7 64 bit version

My mother has the same computer(same OS also) with firefox 3.6.4 and synaptics 13.2.2 and scolling works fine on her computer.
Also happens on Firefox 4.08b8pre. Can no longer scroll with the third button.
I have a fix. I uninstalled the current driver(on my laptop it was the most recent Gateway trackpad Driver) and went to synaptics.com and downloaded and installed the latest synaptics driver and that solved the problem. That also solved the problem with pinch zoom not working.
no crash or dataloss = not critical.
Touchpad scrolling issues are in most cases always a driver issue.
The internal window structure got changed and it seems that some drivers don't like that. You should try to get updated touchpad drivers
