In the Panorama view, one can see at a glance previews of tabs within each tab group, as well as the names of each of those tab groups (if named). One should also be able to see an exact number of how many tabs are in each tab group.
For example:
Mozilla (23)
Shopping (15)
Group 3 (32)
Read Later (12)
Also, if the group name is ever used anywhere else, the tab count should probably be included there, too. (For example, "List all tabs" menu, session restore, window title bar, etc.)

I like the idea of adding tab counts in some of the auxiliary locations (such as the "move tab to group" menu), but I don't like the idea of having it in the Panorama UI; too much clutter.

I do not see what benefit adding the exact group count would do, except, as Ian says, in the auxiliary locations.

We're not gonna implement this as a core feature to keep Panorama as simple as possible. Please consider writing an add-on if you still want to have it.

When a tab group is rather small or has rather many tabs in it and the tabs are arranged into a stack, it is no longer possible to visually assess how many tabs are in that group. In this situation, are you still opposed to adding a visual indicator of that stack's size?

I'm not totally opposed but I rather think that the majority of users has no real benefit from knowing how many tabs are contained in a group. That seems like a niche feature to me that could be quite easily implemented with an add-on.
