As the addon bar is now a tool bar, it could be nice and consitent to experiment to make it translucent with aero (as for buttons in mockups with tab on bottom).
So floating in the aero's glassy background.

Reproducible: Always

This needs some triage. You also need to set it to blocking to see if it can make the final release.

Considering :
- the shape and the bottom place of the actual addon bar https://bug574688.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=476642
- the first and last mockups of the wished Syn-Error notification on windows https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=471288

it give us a good spreaded over view of what could (approximatly) look like buttons on the addon bar on windows with aero ;-)

We still have this to have an idea of what it could look like too : https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/4.0_Windows_Theme_Mockups#Tabs-on-Bottom_-_.28Aero.29

Mockup of how the addon bar could use aero glass

I made a quick mockup of what the addon bar would look like if the area without icons were glass. This is basically the same as what Opera is currently doing and I feel the glass is more acceptable compared to a solid colour and fits in with the title bar and the windows taskbar.

The background for the icons is at 190 opacity but I think it could look better if it copied the style of either active or inactive tabs. Also I think it would help if the bar was as thin as possible, maybe 1 or 2px about and below the icons.

I think we need to change this from depends on to blocking.

I think that the background of buttons on the addon bar should have a background only on houvering.
Could you make a new mockup with that please ?

I've thought again, maybe the best is to do like all other buttons of Fx4 theme : use a glyph (transparent svg shape for the button), but only on hoovering.
Nicolas: please don't nominate things for blocking without first checking with owners of work (like Shorlander) to ensure it's what they want.

Shorlander: renominate if you think this is a blocking issue.
