Using 3.6.10 on XP with a Russian OS interface, I launched Firefox using the profile manager, and I changed the input language from English to Russian and created a new profile. If I remember correctly, when I clicked ok I got this message, and after clicking OK to that, the app launched fine.

I met the same issue with Vista SP2 (French version) and Firefox 3.6.x (3.6 and 3.6.12 in my case).

I tried to create a new profile (Windows+R > firefox.exe -p) with a name including "exotic" fonts (like Cyrillic, Arabic etc... found on Wikipedia for example) but Firefox failed and opened the same error dialog box saying "the profile can't be created and the directory selected is likely write-protected".

But the profile folder resulting is not write-protected and doesn't contain the name I chose (ex.: ek5f8yu4.________ instead of ek5f8yu4.избнркома).

I have to precise I am able to create folder/filename with these fonts on Vista SP2.
