600858 - Can send emails only with the send later function

After the 3.12 update i cannot send emails with the send button any more. If i press the button, the message window stays open, the message does not go in the 'to be sent folder' nor it is saved unless I select the 'save draft' option.
I can ONLY send messages with the 'send later' option and then pressing the 'send queued messages' from the menu.
Please note that I am using an italian language version of 3.14.

What version did you upgrade from ?

Does it work better in -safe-mode (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) ?

I am not sure exactly what version I upgraded from originally. I have been using thunderbird for ages and have upgraded each time so I can assume it was from 3.11 but can't be 100% sure.
I have tried the safe-mode and I can send messages normally. I reverted to the 'un-safe-mode' and still I can't send mail with the 'send' button but I can using the 'send-later' and 'send-queued-messages'. bc

One extension is playing a trick with your (or a theme). You'll need to go to your extensions and disable them one by one in order to find the extension causing the issue, and notify the extension author about the problem.

As it's a theme or extension issue, resolving INVALID.
