Our javascript trademark license from Sun requires we use certain trademark
designations in connection with use of Javascript on our websites. Please do
the following:
On the following page add (R) after Javascript in the title of the page and "Javascript is a trademark or registered trademark of Sun Microsystems, Inc. in the U.S. and other countries." on the bottom of the page:

Michael, this means we'll need to set up redirects from the previous name to the new name. Are you familiar with setting up redirects?
Elizabeth, please let us know what you prefer:
JavaScript®
JavaScript(R)
JavaScript (R)
Also, do we need to change the title, or is it OK if we just put the (R) symbol on the very first word of the article? The latter is much much simpler to implement, as we wouldn't have to set up redirects, etc.

JavaScript® would be best. If it's a lot simpler to add it in the first use in the text, that's fine.

Thanks -- yes, it really is a lot simpler.
Fixed! Should appear on the site shortly.

Also it's not technically possible to add ® or (R) to a title in TikiWiki.

I don't see the ® registered trademark symbol or the aforementioned trademark note anywhere on the page now.

Thanks for catching that. Is there anyone on this bug who can fix this or, if you know who it should be could you add them?

No problem.
> Is there anyone on this bug who can fix this or, if you know who it should be could you add them?
I was going to, but there are several issues:
1. Symbols or (R) can't be added to the article title, and adding them to every occurrence of the word in the article is unnecessary (based on other articles). So only a footnote at the bottom is needed, correct?
2. JavaScript doesn't appear to be a registered trademark. It's a trademark — that's ™ or (TM) — and service mark — that's ℠ or (SM).
3. The trademark holder isn't Sun Microsystems but Oracle Corporation.
http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=75026640
So, would it be okay if I add a footnote that reads as follows?
"JavaScript™ is a trademark and service mark of Oracle Corporation in the U.S. and other countries."

Even though Oracle bought Sun, our agreement with Sun includes specific language to use, so until Oracle tells us in writing to use something different, we should use the exact language from the agreement, which is provided above.
Javascript is a registered trademark. See http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4808:47vk8w.2.2. If the ® can't be added to the title, it should be added to the first or most prominent use in the article.
Thanks

* I added ® a to the first occurrence.
* I also added the note you mentioned to the bottom of the page, but not verbatim. I put JavaScript® instead of Javascript and the words "Sun Microsystems, Inc." link to the Sun homepage, which is on oracle.com. This is in line with similar notes on other articles, like Installing Thunderbird.
* I didn't touch the search result summary, because I don't know if that would negatively impact search results.
If this isn't acceptable, an editor can reject the changes or anyone else with a Mozilla Support account can edit the page.

The aforementioned revision was approved some time ago:

If the changes are acceptable, this bug report should be marked fixed.

I don't think the link is necessary, but it doesn't hurt. The ® should be removed from the note at the bottom of the page. With that change, this is approved.
