I think there are more of these bugs lurking yet. This is a placeholder/meta for removing the use of alternate menu items as proxies for Cmd/Shift open-in-new/background modifier handling, and for any Cmd/Shift bugs we can then fix without alternates (i.e., the remaining places we never converted to alternates).
