(Whiteboard: [doorhanger])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101010 Firefox/4.0b8pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101010 Firefox/4.0b8pre These are far too easy to miss/dismiss at they're currently implemented. They should need to be dismissed by the user by clicking an X in the top right or close. At the very least they should should show a countdown which lasts 90 seconds before removal if a user clicks elsewhere on the browser without acknowledging the notification. Reproducible: Always

Doorhanger notifications were carefully designed to be ephemeral and easily dismissed. Any actions that could have been completed in the doorhanger can be completed at a later time by clicking on the anchor that produced the doorhanger. Doing otherwise would unnecessarily violate the principle of ux-efficiency. A design mockup produced by Alex Faaborg: https://bug588240.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=466966

The problem is, for example, I logged into a site the other day. Something popped up. I clicked that and lost the ability to save my password for that site. At which point am I informed that I can bring back this option? And where exactly do I click? I think it's premature to mark this as WONTFIX without discussion on something that's perhaps better in design than usability. This is also my first time seeing a bug unblock something simply because it's been marked WONTFIX? Can you remark as blocking the Doorhanger bug unless you have another good reason for removing it? Even if WONTFIX, it makes it easier to look for and avoid duplicate filings.
A good compromise here might be to reopen as a feature enhancement?

(In reply to comment #3) > A good compromise here might be to reopen as a feature enhancement? I don't think it would make it into Firefox 4 and by Firefox 5 this would to be considered going backwards.
