Issue
Within the Android OS a user can click on a link from another app, such as a twitter app, and then the link will be opened with the default browser. If a default browser is not set then the user is presented with a menu title "Complete action using" and a listing of each installed browser. On my device this includes the default android browser and the current firefox browser.
After selecting "Firefox" the browser attempts to load but never completes. The "Firefox is loading" box is displayed, then disappears and the Firefox screen remains black. The page never loads.
This problem occurs every time a link is loaded from another app and the "Complete action using" menu is displayed. I also confirmed this issue on another Motorola droid. It should be noted that the normal use of the firefox browser (directly opening from its app link) works just fine.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open firefox normally and then return to the android home screen
2. Open another app such as twitter and click on a link
3. If the "Complete action using" menu is not displayed then clear the defaults for the installed browsers and repeat step 1
4. Click on firefox in the "Complete action using"
5. Observe firefox begins to load and then the screen goes black. The page never loads.
Note:
I have watchdog installed on my phone (CPU usage monitoring app). It does NOT generate a high cpu usage alert for firefox in this scenario.

What version of Fennec are you using? Can you reproduce this problem in a current nightly build?
Bug 601314 caused an identical problem about a week ago, but should be fixed in current builds.

I am running 4.0b1. I will download a nightly and see if the issue is still present.

I downloaded the nightly from https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#Download_Nightly_Builds.
It reports the version to be: Firefox 4.0b8pre Fennec/4.0b2pre
I've confirmed that the problem is still present. I'm in MV office and can demo in person if that is helpful.
I also noticed that if I first open Fennec directly, then go back to the home screen and repeat the steps, everything works fine. In other words, the problem is only present if I haven't been running fennec and enter into fennec via another app from the "Complete Action Using" menu.

Michael, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=590225 got fixed on 10-15 and might fix your issue. Can you try it out on a nightly build?
