Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101011 Firefox/4.0b8pre

If you are installing an add-on which is marked as compatible on AMO, you will not be able to install that add-on when the install.rdf specifies a version range which doesn't fit to the current version of the application. Looks like that we do not check AOM for a version compatibility update.

Steps:
1. Use a Firefox 4.0b8pre build with a fresh profile
2. Try to install the Download Status Bar 0.9.7.1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26/versions/)

Step 2 will not succeed because we only trust the maxVersion information of the install.rdf and do not use the compatibility information provided by AMO.

Remote compatibility updates only work for the current version.

Thanks Dave. Haven't searched the AMO product for an issue like that.
