The Paste function is missing from the right mouse-click menu. I see this
problem in the latest Linux and Windows builds (haven't looked at Mac). As a
result, I cannot copy text on a page and paste it into the URL or sidebar search
field unless I use the keyboard commands.
please read bug reporting guidelines
http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html
I can't tell if you're using netscape builds or mozilla builds.
I can't tell if you're talking about all input boxes, html input boxes, the url
bar, sidebar or something else.
Steps that would help: include a screen capture.
Severity: normal → enhancement

on a mozilla trunk build from today (on Macintosh), I don't see a problem as
described in the initial report.
Reporter--please realize that paste isn't a valid option to display until you
are somewhere that can take the paste (such as an edit field) and that paste
won't appear in the context menu in an edit field until after you've copied.
I see "copy" when I bring up a context menu in a selection in my browser window
and I see "paste" when I bring up the context menu in an input, textarea, or urlbar.
I'd resolve as worksforme unless I'm missing something...
I see the Copy option in the right mouse-click using the US Netscape RTM build.
After I highlight text on a Web page, I right-click and copy the text. Then I
try to paste it into the location bar field or into the sidebar search field
using the right mouse-click, but the right mouse-click menu isn't even available
to me when I place the cursor in the field.
I will attach a screenshot of what I see before I even select text to copy. If I
can see Copy as an option, I should also see Paste as an option. Both should
show up as grey text until an action is performed that uses one of the
functions.
As you can see, I'm actually talking about two different issues (probably
requiring two different bugs). If one or both of these issues have already been
posted in a previous bug, please let me know.
I will test today's Mozilla build (Windows) to see if the problem still exists.

hmm, not seeing this on win98 mozilla trunk builds, but I am assuming you are
using netscape commercial builds.
Did you try with a new profile?
Looking at Mozilla build 2000-11-16-08-Mtrunk, the paste function is available
once I copy text and right-click in the location bar or sidebar search field,
but if I right-click in a field such as in the Stocks sidebar panel, the
right-click menu is unavailable.
I witness the same problem with another sidebar field in shopping. Could be a
sidebar related issue.

iirc we never hooked up that menu onto other edit boxes, only the url bar.
either they can do it themselves, or you can send this to hyatt and xpwidgets
