Build Identifier:
Previous versions had such a menu item in the file menu. This allowed saving or detaching etc. individual or all attachments from a msg. Now one needs to open the msg to do this. The problem is that the new style is not fully accessible for the visually-impaired as with Screen Reader software you cannot click on a free space to save all attachments at once. Mouse clicks can be simulated by Screen reaing software such as Jaws only on objects, not the empty part of a window. This problem would be solved by re-adding an attachments item to the file menu. I do not understand frankly why it has been removed.
Reproducible: Always

I still have a file -> attachment menu in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.11) Gecko/20101013 Thunderbird/3.1.5.
The menu is only active when a message containing attachment is highlighted in the message list. This is the same behavior as in 2.0.0.24.
Can you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) and see if it's better ?
Thanks. In safe mode the file/attachments item appears, but not in normal mode. I am using
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.2.9) Gecko/20100915 Thunderbird/3.1.4.
Maybe just the German version is broke?

One extension or theme is breaking things. try disabling them one by one until you find the culprit and let the author of said extension/theme know the issue.

I must admit there are no extensions or themes except the standard TB theme, maybe the German one but I guess this cannot be removed and would appear also in safe mode. There are no plug-ins. So there should be another feature of safe mode (apart from not loading themes and plugins) which makes the File/Attachments item appear properly. I am at a loss.
