Visiting the reference website and trying the attached test-case on MacOS X I see the the characters of certain character sets being displayed incorrectly It appears as if incorrect spacing have been given to the characters, or there is a writing direction issue.

This is tested on MacOS X 10.6.4 and Firefox 4.0b6

I had originally opened this ticket due to the behaviour in bug #494697 being seemingly resolved, but now with a different issue. I am now testing with the nightly build of Firefox 4.0b8pre on 18 October 2010. What I see is what would appear to be a partial regression to the behaviour in the original ticket. Essentially, while I am not seeing simple squares I am seeing squares with their unicode identifier.

For comparison the same test case renders perfectly in Safari 4.x on the same system.

This bug was reported using a pre-release version of Firefox 4. Now that Firefox 4.0.1 final has been released, can you please update and retest your bug? A fresh profile would be a good starting place to test,
