Fresh, clean, first-time install of Thunderbird 3.15. I have a domain registered with the .org and the .net top-level domain extensions; I created the first mail account, voradin@doomsdayprophet.net, configured properly, works fine, no problem. Then, when I created a mail account for voradin@doomsdayprophet.ORG, it changed all references in the doomsdayprophet.NET account settings from .NET to .ORG. I switched back and forth a dozen times changing domain extensions, pointed both accounts to different locations in the local user path on the hard disk, everything that I could think of (and I thought of alot), but no matter what I did, either both accounts were .NET or both were .ORG, there was no way to create two distinct accounts that have the same domain name but different extensions. It is as if the thunderbird code is going entirely by the "doomsdayprophet" part and ignoring the ".net" or ".org" part and assumes that they are both the same account. I tried using different SMTP servers, I tried renaming the local paths on the hard disk for the mail folders, I tried totally removing both identities and completely deleting all of the identity-related folders and starting over, to no avail.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a mail account, eg "username@domain.net"
2. Create another mail account that is identical except for domain extension, eg "username@domain.org"
3. Watch as they both become "username@domain.org" in the settings and in the folder listing.
Actual Results:
Accounts crossed together
Expected Results:
Two separate, independent accounts
I have Thunderbird 3.0 installed on another Windows 7 machine and it does not have this problem. There I am able to use the .net and .org accounts separately and independently as you would expect.

Would you be willing to share your prefs.js file ?

Sorry, but I've removed 3.1.5 and replaced it with 3.0 (which works)... I may try to install 3.1.5 on another system or virtual machine in the near future though, if I do I will upload it at that time.

That would help figure out what issue you are encountering.
I installed 3.1.5 on an XP virtual machine and did not encounter the problem. Perhaps there is some issue with my other machine (with Win 7), but unless others are reporting this perhaps you should go ahead and close it for now. It's puzzling though, the install of 3.1.5 on my Win 7 machine was a fresh, clean install (I had never installed TB on this system).
