There is no ability to export a mailbox in a standard format (such as mbox). This means that once you've made Eudora your email program, you can never escape from it. This is a serious bar to usage. I can't adopt a mail program that I can't switch away from if it turns out that there is a need to do so.

Having plaintext MBOX format is one of the reasons I stuck with Eudora so many years.
given the longevity of the import export tools add-on and the number of third party MBOX management tools around I think this bug should simply be closed as invalid

As the submitter of the bug, I agree. Nothing was done about it, so I was, as I said, never able to use Eudora as my primary email program. And I don't know anyone else who uses it either at this point. In short, the bug report has outlived its usefulness, because it has outlived the application itself.
