User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/7.0.517.41 Safari/534.7 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 At unpredictable times, Thunderbird has been crashing when I click on links. So far, I have not found a predictable pattern. I see that a similar bug existed in Windows XP. I don't see the same phenomena with SeaMonkey's Mail Component (so far). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open .html mail with a link showing in the preview window 2. Click on that link 3. Thunderbird crashes - and so does Windows 7 Actual Results: Crashes at unpredictable times. I cannot identify particular links which might be causing the crashes. Expected Results: The link opens in the default browser (Google Chrome) Sorry, I cannot add anything.
off hand it doesn't sound like it would be caused by thunderbird a) does it crash started in safe mode http://support.mozillamessaging.com/bg/kb/Safe+Mode b) please post a crash report id http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Mozilla+Crash+Reporter#Viewing_crash_reports

The crashing is unpredictable, and so far I cannot see a pattern of which URL's in which messages cause the crashes. Today, I had no crashes, so I cannot say if safe mode would help or not. I must now read the crash report ID article you suggest.... Ok. so far, I haven't seen a crash report window pop up (I THINK - not sure). I will consciously look for it when/if the next crash occurs. I will add that I've never seen SeaMonkey's mail component crash with a link.
It might be caused by your antivirus software. => inccomplete for now

This crashing upon clicking on certain links (whose identity I never captured, which would have helped you - I am sorry for that) has not recurred for some time now. I currently have Thunderbird 3.1.6 - I have Win 7 Home Premium, 32-bit. My security program is a newer version - it was Norton Internet Security 2010; it is now Norton Internet Security 2011. I cannot say if that played a role at all. I never had seen that link crashing with my alternative mail program - The Bat!, version 4.2.xx
Bob, thanks for the update.
