User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/533.16
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv: Gecko/20101013 Thunderbird/3.1.5

I keep a large email list in sections, which has always worked well in prior versions of Thunderbird.
My address book groups are organized as "Dharma Friends1", "Dharma Friends2"."Dharma Friends3"and so on up to "Dharma Friends9". In the versions starting at 3, the suggested string doesn't find the correct match, and doubles up the name in the suggested match (for which there is no related group name).
For instance "Dharma Friends1" copied and pasted as "Dharma Friends" with 1 typed after the core name, returns a suggested value of this: Dharma Friends <"Dharma Friends1">
instead of this correct value of this: <"Dharma Friends1">
In the example the group name is <"Dharma Friends1">
Since both the right and the wrong values are listed, I have to now choose the correct value, instead of having Thunderbird know what the value should be, and simply accepting the correct group name by pressing enter to continue listing group names with subsequent numbers.
Since I send up to 10 emails a day to my list, and have to enter 9 different group names on every email I send, having to choose from a suggested list (one of which is incorrect), is a annoying and a time waster. Three of the numbered lists has straightened out, and overtime, I'm hoping the rest of them will, but I've been training the software with the correct selection for weeks now.
Can you help? I need to remove the error selection from the pop down list of the Bird's two selections.
Hope this make sense, and you can help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Type or copy and paste the group name in the address field with a number following, that matches the actual address field group name
2.Thunderbird returns two or more choices, from which I have to choose, although in the past versions it never did that, and always chose the correct group name.
Actual Results:
At least one wrong group name appeared in the list of suggested group names.

Expected Results:
I expected to be presented with one group name -- the one that actually corresponds to the group name.

sky, do you still have this problem on most recent version TB 24?

This looks more like a support issue to me. For unique matches, autocomplete should get it right.
Any other potential issues certainly have their own bugs filed, or are known (e.g. that there's no way for popularityIndex to be reset or go down).
