Details
1. go to Settings -> About
2. look at the screen
Expected: some version number of the Home App
Actual: None
Note: in most applications, there's a way for the end user to know the version of the app in the about section so that they can trouble shoot/upgrade to the latest version.

So how is currently is implemented is that the version number in the Settings will only appear after the first time you have started the app. This is because the version number is taken from the application preferences, which are initialized when the app is started.
I also find this confusing. For the next build I will simply put the version number statically in the settings.

Resolved in 1.0.4b5. We now put the string hard-coded in the settings bundle. This means that we must not forget to update this with every release.

I came to realize I made a mistake when it comes to iPhone Apps. The version number is set at the Preferences like it currently is set.
What is confusing is that we have an home -> settings -> about.
Question :
1. should we be more like other iPhone Apps and conform to what Apple has?
ie an i for the "about" a refresh icon, having the sign in like the Store in the preferences?
2. Would it be possible to combine them into one location, either in the App or the preferences?

Separating the preference settings into another bug.
Verified build number in preferences: (which does help out a lot)
iPhone 3GS : iOS 4
iPod Touch : iOS 3
