Details
When you search with your Help for options set to a Mobile Firefox version/Mobile OS you should only get KB articles that are Mobile related (already in the spec) and only forum threads tagged with mobile (this bug). When you search for with Help for options set to desktop firefox versions/desktop OSes, you should only get KB articles that are Desktop Firefox (already in the spec) and only forum threads WITHOUT the mobile tag (this bug.)

Questions: * This is untargeted: is it needed for 2.3? * If we're restricting searches by default, should we continue to hide the "Advanced Search" link for unauthenticated users*? Since the effect of the "Help with" selector may not be immediately apparent (it's nowhere near the search fields) the advanced search is the only really evident want of changing that filtering. *We don't actually stop anyone from using the advanced search, we just don't expose any links to it to unauthenticated users.

Is this bug still an issue? I'm not really sure I understand what it's talking about in relation to today's SUMO. If it's still an issue, can someone translate to today's SUMO lingo?

Bug 824935 addresses this issue. We don't use SHOWFOR on any landing pages anymore.
