(Whiteboard: [redesign])

As part of the redesign project, here is the PSD for the Press Kit page(s) of the new Press Center:

Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I quite get how the links to the various Press Kit pages will work. Tara, can you explain which pages get linked to from where? Thanks.
Hi Steven. The current layout isn't quite working for me actually and the navigation isn't very intuitive. I'm going to ask Lee to make some quick changes to the design and re-post the PSD. Basically, I'd like to add two tabs at the top (similar to what we've done in the Media Library page) to reference desktop and mobile, with the one for mobile open by default. Stay tuned...

Enjoy :) Thanks Steven, and let me know if you have any questions.
A few final questions:

1. Should the tabs be separate pages, or one page with in-page tab switching?
2. How should we handle URLs?

If they are separate pages, I'd suggest

/press/kits/desktop/
/press/kits/mobile/

probably make sense - we should probably redirect /press/kits/ to the desktop version in case someone tries to edit the URL manually.

If they are one page with embedded tabs, then:

/press/kits/

with desktop as the default - the mobile version would be link-able as /press/kits/#mobile
Hi Steven.

Lets have a separate URL per tab, that's better/cleaner when it comes to PR handing out links to different reporters. And redirect /press/kits/ to the desktop version as you suggested.

Does that sound good? Let me know. Thanks again.
Ok, both mobile and desktop Press Kit pages are now setup (r77034):

Ready for QA/review.

Overall layout and content looks good to me! But can we actually change the header to say "Firefox Press Kits"? This is actually all Firefox content, and there's already a discrepancy between what the link says in the side nav, and the header. So, lets fix that, please :) Thanks Raymond for the QA review.

Done in r77410.
The What's this link next to the Creative commons image is a 404

Thanks everyone. I'm ready to close, but had a question first. If I've scrolled down the page, and switch tabs, the page suddenly jumps back up to the top of the page. I'm assuming this is because those are each coded as separate pages, but it seems a little weird (and perhaps annoying) to have my screen jump like that. Most people I image have scrolled down a bit to view the contents of the page, and when they switch tabs they don't anticipate a sudden jump. It would simply be a smoother experience if that didn't happen, but wasn't sure if it's something you can fix easily or not. Definitely not a big deal, I was just curious. Steven, any thoughts?
Tara, you're right about the tab behaviour - it's not ideal as they are really just visual indicators for separate pages, not "real" tabs. I was modelling this off of the behaviour discussed in Bug 605902, which was in turn based on this example from facebook: http://www.facebook.com/brandpermissions/

This Press Kits page isn't nearly as long as the Image Center pages discussed in Bug 605902, so it wouldn't be as much of a problem, but you still may end up with some odd scrollbar changing due to the varied height of content in the two tabs.

We do have the javascript/css available to switch to "real" tabs, like those used at the bottom of http://nova.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/customize/ - I don't feel too strongly either way.
OS: Mac OS X → All
Hardware: x86 → All
Thanks Steven. I remember that discussion :) I guess I didn't realize that Facebook also had that weird tab behavior, it wasn't as noticeable to me. Perhaps I misunderstood, sorry. I do very much like what we have at the bottom of the customize page, and prefer the "real" tabs if it's not too much trouble. If it's going to add a lot more coding time, lets worry about that later since we've got so much work on our plates. But for the Image Center, I'd like to do real tabs if possible. Does that sound ok Steven?
Tara, the 'real' in-page tabs will probably work relatively well on this page, but for the reasons discussed in Bug 605902 they may not be well suited for the Image Center.
OK, got it. Sorry, I guess I keep confusing myself. So, how about we make the real tabs work on this page :) Can we do that? :)
Talked to Steven. He's going to work on this but we'll place it lower on the priority list. Closing this bug since we're pretty much set, and filing a separate bug for fancy tabs. Thanks all!
