The only internet connection achievable is through gmail all other sites return a Proxy Error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type in any site (ebay, facebook, amazon, netflix, etc) other than mail.google.com
2.  Receive a proxy error with a try again button.

Actual Results:  
Receive a proxy error with a try again button.

Expected Results:  
Loading web sites.

I do not know how I can upgrade since I cannot access the Mozilla pages with that copy of firefox; the non-beta version work just fine.  I am running Norton and Firefox 3.6 is all allowed to access the internet.

And you configured a proxy ?
Check your proxy settings....

The error is easily fixable, but it is still an error in that upon installation the proxy settings are messed up so that it cannot access most sites.  Let me reiterate:

The update messes up proxy settings.

What is different in the proxy settings ?
Do you use a proxy, what are your proxy settings ?

You forgot to include all the information we need
