Seen while running Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101101 Firefox/4.0b8pre using a clean profile and Ver 7.6.6 of Quicktime. I uncovered this while testing Bug 594635, but this was happening before the patch for that bug landed. STR: 1. Load http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thegirlwhokickedthehornetsnest/ or any video on the apple site. 2. Video does not play and often the content from another tab bleeds through. Screenshot attached. This error shows up consistently in the EC: Error: this.time is not a function Source File: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/global/scripts/lib/ac_media.js Line: 1973 These videos play fine using Chrome on the same machine.

I cannot reproduce this issue on the 10.5 lab machine using the same nightly. I am wondering if it could have something to do with hardware acceleration. Will investigate further.
I can't reproduce this on my machines, until we have some evidence that this is more common problem we shouldn't block on it.

I am wondering if the flickering issue I noted in Comment 1 is due to Bug 596955. I do see this while playing Quicktime videos on the 10.5 lab machine using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101102 Firefox/4.0b8pre. When the flickering occurs it occurs at the top of the browser window.
Marcia, My system configuration. Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 Processor 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Also i am unable to play the video. It flickers a lot on above the tab bar and the previous tab overlaps on the current tab.
What version of Quicktime are you running?
Using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110106 Firefox/4.0b9pre on my 10.5 laptop, the video below only plays audio - video does not show at all and the UI flickering noted in Comment 3 persists. I am using QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.9. http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thegirlwhokickedthehornetsnest/ The same video above plays fine on the same machine using Chrome.
On Windows, even if QT is installed, when the plugin folder is empty, some videos don't play. It may happen when you have both 3.6 and 4.0 beta. You need to copy manually the plugin folder from 3.6 to 4.0. May be it is the case for tested Macs.
My previous comment was due to a conflict between QuickTime and VLC plugins that both play some QuickTime type files. It has been fixed by disabling the VLC plugin. Marcia, which video plugins are installed on the faulty Mac?
Let's close it as WFM now that Mac OS X 10.5 is no longer supported in Firefox 17.
