Eudora OSE new mail sound and pop up alerts do not always work. This is 
what I have fould.

I have determined how to make the alerts work and under what circumstance the alerts will not work.

All one has to do to make the alerts work is to have the inbox tab
visible. It does not have to be highlighted but has to be visible.

But I am one to close all the tabs down after reading mail. This 
tidying up procedure would stop the alerts from working because the inbox 
tab would no longer be visible. Eudora OSE new mail alerts should not 
work this way. Eudora 7.1 did not require the inbox tab to be visible in
order to hear the alerts.
