Fully up to date nightly on iMac Desktop can't sync for some reason -- Windows laptop seems to be fine (also latest nightly), Mac laptop seems to be fine. No problems with my network. What's happening is I'm using "Sync Now" in the Tools menu and getting a "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action. ( Server Status )" info bar at the bottom of the window. Multiple attempts to sync do the same thing, and there's nothing useful on the Server Status page (except for a link to file a bug, so here I am). Not sure if there's other useful information I can give you. iMac is the most recent generation i7 quad core, fully up to date, etc.
Please provide Sync log (using about:sync-log).
If you're on a nightly build, you may also have to turn on logging first. Go to about:config and create the services.sync.log.appender.debugLog.enabled preference as a boolean and set it to True. Then sync again and attach the output of about:sync-log.
Using seamonkey 2.2a1pre (nightly), I am unable to open my about:sync-log and about:sync-log-1 Error msg: The file about:sync-log cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.

I'm going to guess this is working now, or Deb would be bitching me out still. :)
