there is no consistency between category names (bottom line). Moreover the mottoes (header line) that are shownd do not match the displayed addons.

I am convinced this silly slideshow issue concerns every locale ad not French only, because once upon a time (it was by request of Ray Bango) localizers were asked to provide lists of "language-centric" addons with consistent category names and mottoes. 
Then this consistency was broken probably because someone decided to change categories.

Yes probably, though the damage is more important than a simple swap of category : everything seems disjointed as seen from the French user.

This is fixed (headings are correct now).  I noticed there is only a single pane for non-English locales now, but that's a different concern.
