When I try to install the Java 2 Plug-in for Windows, the only choice for
Location that I get is an ftp URI. Because I'm behind a firewall and must use an
authenticating proxy, I can't download from an ftp site.

If I could select an http URI, as I can when installing PSM, I should be able to
download and install the Java 2 Plug-in without problem.
Reporter is this still a problem in the latest nightlies?
Yes, with nightly build 2000121804, still the only choice for a download
location for the Java 2 Plug-in is an FTP site. I need an HTTP site in order to
download the Plug-in through the authenticating proxy I use.
Marking NEW so someone will add it so it can be downloaded.

Reassigning to grega and moving to m1.0. grega, is this important to you?

I dont think this is a mozilla bug.
You can just go to http://java.sun.com and download the JRE from their site
directly
Bugs targeted at mozilla1.0 without the mozilla1.0 keyword moved to mozilla1.0.1
(you can query for this string to delete spam or retrieve the list of bugs I've
moved)
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → mozilla1.0.1
I think this may be changing soon with bug 83754.

Is this bug valid anymore? I thought we ARE using an HTTP URL?

Arun/Todd do you know anything about this? What's Greggl's bugzilla e-mail?
