User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 I've been trying out Build 1 of Beta 7, and on average it uses about 50% more RAM than Beta 6 under the same circumstances. This seems to be an unusually large gain. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Firefox. 2. Load some tabs. 3. Watch memory usage surge sky-high. Actual Results: RAM gone. Expected Results: Same, or less, memory usage as Beta 6.
"Using more Ram" or "using more CPU" with loading some unknown URLS isn't useful as report. - Test in the Firefox safemode http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode as start. - include the used URLs - number, we need numbers like FF4.0b6 uses 150MB while FF4.0b7 uses 500mb
Sorry. I'll run proper tests when I get a chance. I'm just a bit flustered by the sudden spike in resource usage. To be a little more specific, most of the tabs open were from the forum at http://www.neogaf.com/forum/ and average memory usage went from the 600-800 MB range (Beta 6) to the 900-1200 MB range (Beta 7).
Reporter, do you still see issues with the newer versions of Firefox?
