If I try and open any .pdf file Firefox initially starts to open a new window then locks up. the only way "out" is to run "Task manager" and "End Task" which shuts down all firefox windows.
If I use an earlier version of firefox then the .pdf opens ok
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. With firefox open on a page with a link to a pdf file
2. click the pdf link
3. Firefox locks up.
Expected Results:
PDF "should" have opened in acrobat

Do you use a Plugin or a helper application for viewing PDF files ?
Which Plugin (Acrobat/foxit reader) version do you use ?
Does it work if you change the PDF settings in tools/options/applications ?

I can't reproduce this with an Acrobat plugin. Perhaps running Firefox in Safe Mode would be an idea, to actually download the .pdf file on disk via Downloads Manager. If this works normal, then my suspicion is we are dealing with a plugin issue.

Finally, may I suggest upgrading to the stable 3.6.12 Firefox?

Reporter -> Are you still experiencing this issue with the latest version of Firefox 5?
What PDF viewer are you using? What version?
