The crash would show up in the linker binary. When I put a breakpoint near the crash it went away but eglGetDisplay returns null.

I can still reproduce this problem after upgrading to 2.2
That's exciting and confusing. Works fine for me? Not sure what to suggest at this point...

I'm also seeing this on Joe's Nexus One when I'm attached with a debugger. Vlad, if you attach a debugger do you get past eglGetDisplay with success?
Yes, I've been able to set breakpoints and the like inside the normal rendering pipeline.
Is this still happening?

I assume that it is, but it seems to be work around-able by having debug information for the system libraries.

Summary: eglGetDisplay crashes on Samsung Galaxy S → eglGetDisplay crashes on Samsung Galaxy S when debugger attached

I just spoke to Jeff about this. He tells me that he only saw the bug with a debugger attached. Since we're not developing Samsung Galaxy S we agreed that we're not interested in fixing this at the moment (it may also no longer happens). If we see the need to use these device for debugging we should re-open this bug. Marking as WONTFIX until then.
