User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b7 When I open Firefox 4.0b7 from Windows 7 desktop shortcut, Firefox's Google Search starting page's Search text box is not selected. I can't write right away to search box. I have to click Search text box with mouse first and then write. If i press enter when Firefox has started without clicking Google text box, Windows opens shortcut from my desktop. Reproducible: Always
Seems like the Text/Mouse Focus isn't switched from the Desktop Icon to Firefox and thus not to the Search Input Field. Is Firefox focused at all for you? You can derive that by looking (without clicking) at other Firefox UI Elements.
Summary: Firefox 4.0b7 homepage, google search text area not selected when opening Firefox. → Search Input Field is not focused on about:home when starting Firefox
Whiteboard: [about-home]
I cannot reproduce this, on page load we explicitly ask to focus the search field. Do you have steps to reproduce starting from a clean profile?
Version: unspecified → 4.0 Branch
I could not reproduce the issue on: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:6.0a2) Gecko/20110602 Firefox/6.0a2 Reporter, can you still see the issue on the latest Firefox build: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/ Nominating this bug for Resolved.
