This does happen with either Firefox or Safari. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to home page 2.select article and click 3.directed to sign in page and cannot. Actual Results: Cannot sign in so restricted to home page Expected Results: Use of entire site. Duh!
It sounds like you're blocking one or more cookies that the site depends on. Check the Exceptions List in the Privacy preference pane for nytimes-related sites and make sure they are set to "Allow" or "Allow for Session". This is not a security bug.

Does "This does happen with either Firefox or Safari" actually mean it does NOT happen in those browsers?

Steve, what happens if you try Troubleshoot Camino? http://pimpmycamino.com/parts/troubleshoot-camino Does it let you sign in then?

Steve e-mailed me privately a day after I posted comment 5 to let me know that it did not, in fact, work even with Troubleshoot Camino, and that he was now (and presumably still) unable to even log in to Bugzilla. That sounds like a user-account or system-level issue to me, but I'm in dialog with him via e-mail about it. I'll post here if I get any further details.

...but since I haven't heard anything since posting comment 6, I'm going to RESOLVED INCOMPLETE this for now to get it off the list.
