For a given page, if you modify the URL in the address bar, you loose the "Bookmark this page"/"Edit this bookmark" button, even if you undo the change to the URL, leaving the address of the current page. The button in question is replaced by the "Go to address in location bar button", which is somewhat logical if the URL were changed, but certainly not when the URL is left corresponding to the current page.

In any case, it seems undesirable to me to loose the ability to use the usual method of managing a page's bookmark, even if the URL has been changed.

I'm aware that you can always bookmark a new page from the "Bookmarks" menu in the menu bar, but once you have touched a URL you loose the ability to manage the current pages bookmark without firing up the bookmark manager and finding the corresponding bookmark.

[Firefox beta 7 downloaded from Mozilla site, what should I set the Firefox version for this bug report to ? Trunk ?]

All the best.

Reproducible: Always
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Press Esc key while the focus is on the address bar. The address that's been modified will be changed to actual address of the page and you'll regain the ability to bookmark it using bookmark button.
