From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.5 [en] (WinNT; I) BuildID: os2enbr.exe Thu Nov 16 2000 18:23:00 A new entry cannot be added to a previously created Mailing list in the Address Book,an entry in the mailing list can be doen only at the time of creating the list. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open the Browser Address Book window. 2.Select an Mailing list from the Address book window, 3.Click on New list /right click opo up menu->new list 4.Select the list to which you want to add an entry. 5.Give a list entry. Actual Results: Gives an Alert saying"A Mailing List with the name already exist. Please choose a different name." and does not add the new entry to the list. Expected Results: The entry should be added to the list along with the existing entries in the mailing list.
Your steps indicate you are trying to add a brand new mailing list, not an entry to an existing mailing list (hence the button name "New List"). To add an entry to an existing mailing list, select the mail list name in the right pane and click the "Edit" button. This will allow you to add to the existing mailing list. Editing a mailing list worksforme using nov30 commercial build win98. Marking this bug invalid.

On Netscape 6 ,I have done as you have suggested selected and it works. But giving a name of an existing list and giving a new entry in the same New list window, should give a message saying the mailing list exists, and the entry should be added to the exsisting list, this part does not seem to work on Netsacpe 6 either.
