Unsure if my testing during this period is due to a unreliable j-pake server, but i'm going to file the bug for now. It seems with Firefox 1.1b4 build, i consistently get the jpake timeout screen. It ranges from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.

Note: I've pinged atoll during my testing time, and he says other than a bunch of 304's, the jpake server is intact.

Repro:
1) install firefox home 1.1b4
2) launch i have an existing sync account
3) on the jpake login screen, let the device sit idle after the code has been displayed.
4) Verify sometimes 5 seconds to 5 minutes, the "Cannot Setup Sync" popup dialog will appear. Hitting Try again doesnt always fix it. (the device my screen timeout, so you'll need to wakt it up to resume)

Expected:
- no jpake timeout screens if the jpake service is intact.

Acutal:
- jpake timeout screen keeps appearing asking the user to cancel, setup manually, or try again

Tony can you reproduce this and then send me the device log file? You can grab it through Xcode.

snapshot of current console output during the timeout
once it timed out again, i was repeatedly clicking the Try again button, and the screen kept reappearing

Created a separate bug for this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616073 also implemented a fix.
I am unable to reproduce this.

Looking at the log files it seems that the iPod that is used for testing loses its network connection. This can happen because of power-safe mode. Or because of flakey wifi. In either case, when the connection drops, the JPAKE requests fail and the error is correctly shown.

I did implement one change that might help for this bug: while the EasySetupViewController is visible, I disable the idle timer. This means that the device will not go to sleep. This might also prevent wifi power downs or power safe mode from happening.
