The current Mozilla Build does not have a working python installation.

= Steps =
1. Install Visual Studio on computer (winxp vm, service pack 2), installed vs 2005.
2. Install Mozilla Build on Computer
3. Start either the L10N prompt short cut or the vs8 shortcut to get an msys prompt
4. Type python at the prompt

= Results =
You get:
bash: /c/mozilla-build/python/python: Bad file number

If you do just the l10n shortcut you still get the same issue. If you do not install a visual studio and you just try to install mozilla-build and you start the l10n msys shortcut, you get the same issue.

I don't see a way around this except going outside of mozilla-build to install python, which while do-able wasn't really what I wanted to do.

= Expected =
Python would work.

you also can't execute python.exe from a normal cmd terminal. Could this be a 64bit version of python and it's not working because this is a 32bit os?
It's a 32-bit python. It WFM on Windows 7 x64, and I haven't heard any other complaints, but I haven't tested it on WinXP (I don't have an install handy).

Oh, actually, I just realized what it probably is. WinXP doesn't ship with the VC9 CRT, so you'll need to install that:

Yep, that's what it was. Thanks.
