This looks more like bug 543416 to me and would depend on whether or not offline synchronization for that folder is available. If you check the "run search on server" box, does the search-in-body option reappear in all cases?
You may have set the account for synchronization but not the Inbox itself, please verify those settings if checking the server box resolves the issue.

Correct. When I check run search on server I am able to search in body.
The example folder (Inbox) is not selected for offline use. Nor do I want it
to be. I agree with the comments in 543416 on this is why I want IMAP.
On my main system I can take the hit of synchronization but not on every
system nor on every network setup.
Thanks for getting back so quickly and for confirming. I'm marking this
as a duplicate of the other bug as the underlying issue is the lack of discoverability of the server-side search option.
