I think the agents should support some sort of command, "device" or part of a larger "info" command or something like that, that should indicate that current device type (Android, Test, etc.). As similar as the interfaces are, the capabilities of the devices differ. In particular, certain tests, such as fennec installation, should either be disabled or altered for the local testing agent. Profile and application paths and names differ across devices as well.
This is probably still valid.

The Android/Java version of sutagent is being retired in bug 1255527. (Negatus remains in use at this time.) ...+ we haven't done anything with this bug in 5+ years.
