We should investigate if the v8.5 crypto test still works correctly. Also we should figure out the difference between the cross platform and the Makefile causing the major speedup. There were not other significant differences in v8.5 performance tests.

also untyped/crypto.as goes from 21 to 45. There are other gains raytrace, deltablue, splay but more modest gains.
