Sort folders at top in XP filepicker

Details
Navigating a directory tree to load or save a file is difficult when files and
directories are interspersed. Most GUI file pickers either separate folders on
the left and files on the right in a two paned design or put directories at the
top and files at the bottom of the list (sorted alphabetically within those
categories).

I do not understand exactly what you are saying and asking for.

I like your second suggestion better :-)
Search bugzilla a bit, there's a bug on creating a nice XP filepicker more
advanced than the current one.
Summary: [RFE] Two paned file picker for folders/files → Sort folders at top in XP filepicker

Any UI changes made to the file picker should be based on usability testing, not
personal preference. In any case, I see no real need for this. ->bryner/future

I agree with your usability remark, but not that there is no need. I took a
quick look at several applications I use regularly:
KDE 1.1 sorts with a multi-column graphical picker
Netscape 4.7 uses dual panes
Gnome uses dual panes (as does the mozilla installer for linux)
Nedit uses dual panes (nedit is a text editor)
Realplayer uses dual panes
xmms uses dual panes
Don't know what the standard pickers in Windows or Mac do
Brian, is it still unclear what my request is?
