In the context of Top Bugs, grouping by month actually means by 30 days. Users might want to see/might expect them grouped by calendar month.

Somewhat similarly, I bet that grouping by week doesn't necessarily mean Sun-Sat. Probably not as important though.

I realized this while working on bug 620470, but it seems big enough for its own bug.

For now, the drop down option for monthly will be "by month (30 days)". Weird but not (as) misleading.
Coincidentally, I was just trying to figure out what on earth the grouping by week means, and failing (and for my uses, it's far more important, because months are ancient history, filled with that one that was so tiresome and annoying three weeks ago, that I can barely even remember now). I'm looking at a set of columns labelled "2010-12-04" "2010-12-11" and "2010-12-18" which I sort of assume (but don't really know) means "the seven days from Saturday to the next Friday, except for the last one which is however many days you're into the current week."

I can sort of (if I stretch a bit) imagine a manager wanting to know about failures by weekdays, and by calendar months, but what I need is "what's worst over the last seven days, what jumped up over the last fourteen or twenty-one days" so the partial current week really breaks me.
When fixing bug 620459, I tried to make this clear in the bug-table's title (eg "full set of each 30-day period's top 10 bugs"). If we ever go for real months (and fix up the weeks), we should also change the table title.
Get rid of words, just use numbers (7 days, 30 days).
