Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.0.04506)
Build Identifier: Addon Collector 1.2.1
If the user needs to make a new profile, they lose their auto-published collections unless they can find and copy the relevant about:config entries. In many situations, the old profile may not be available, as in a hard drive crash, but it may be desirable to keep the old auto-publisher, because the short-name and subscriptions are already established.
I am currently in a common situation in which this would be very helpful. I am the person most interested in new addons in my social group, so I have a half-dozen subscribers to the auto-published collections based on my desktop and laptop computers. My laptop recently crashed, and I had to wipe the main drive and reinstall my OS. As I am not certain what caused the instability, I do not want to simply use my old profile folder, and am instead using a clean install, aided by sync addons such as Xmarks, LastPass, and Add-On Collector. It would be most convenient if I could simply install the addons currently listed in the collection, then set my new profile as the source for that auto-publisher from this point forward. I was able to find instructions on which about:config entries I need to copy several months ago (the last time I had to wipe the desktop), but cannot find the discussion thread now. A setting to "take over" an auto-publisher with the current profile if it is one you own would save me a lot of digging in my old profile's config.
Reproducible: Always
Actual Results:
Currently, you have to find and copy relevant entries in about:config from the old profile to the new one in order to take over an auto-publisher.
Expected Results:
It would be preferable for there to be a setting that allows users to change the profile associated with an auto-publisher that they own.

This lands in r95122
This required a new context menu when right click on collection in left hand side menu:
- Reload Collection
- View
- Manage [if coll. is editable]
- Unsubscribe
------
- Make Auto-Publisher [if coll. is editable]
2 new strings in extensionsBoxOverlay.xul

For the new strings, I've added English placeholders in all languages for now to avoid breakage. r95149. I'll alert translators.
I'm wondering if "Make Auto-Publisher" is clear? Other suggestions:
- Set as Auto-Publisher
- Convert to Auto-Publisher
- Use as Auto-Publisher
