This is a Intel Core2 duo with 2GB RAM and an nVidia GeForce 8400M GS on Fedora 12.

STR:
1. visit twitter.com while logged in
2. hold down down arrow
3. notice as the page scrolls jerkily until the menu disappears, at which point is speeds up significantly and scrolls smoothly
This is on the Dec 25 32bit nightly, for the record.
Based on the dup in comment 2 which was reported with trunk build on Windows XP updating version and OS.

I see similar behaviour on yammer.com while the bar on the right of the coversation flow is in view.
