User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; GTB6.6; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2) Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.0.7. An e-mail adressed to a group of approximately 40 addresses (that used to work regularly) now fails citing "error 416, invalid address". There are no sub-groups on the list. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.choose list in "To" box 2.activate send button 3.frown at error 416 message and wonder which address is invalid Actual Results: as above Expected Results: as above send the e-mail to the list
I then selected 15 to 20 addresses and receive the same error, so it is not the name of the list that is the invalid address.
> Build Identifier: Thunderbird version 1.0.7. AFAIK, Tb 1.0.x is not supported any more. Please don't open bug for problems of too old Tb. Can you check with latest Tb? (AFAIK, latest is Tb 3.1.7) If yes, do next first. (1) Compose a mail, with the list, "Send Later" (2) View mail source of mail in Outbox folder of Local Folders. Can you see something wrong in To: header? If nothing wrong is seen in header, get SMTP log for (3) "Send Unsent Messages" operation, and check request by Tb and response from SMTP server. To which mail address is the error returned? > https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging > Win example : SET NSPR_LOG_MODULES=timestamp,smtp:5
I updated to 3.0.7, the problem remains. I don't know how to "get smtp log", "To which mail address is the error returned?" The error is returned to sender. Thank you.
(In reply to comment #3) > I updated to 3.0.7, the problem remains. Why Tb 3.0.7, even though latest Tb is Tb 3.1.7? Do you need T 3.0.x because of compatibility of plugin or add-on? > I don't know how to "get smtp log", (snip) I meant "NSPR log with parameter of smtp:5" by "smtp log". Do you really *read* and *understand* next document which I already pointed? > https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging > Win example : SET NSPR_LOG_MODULES=timestamp,smtp:5 > "To which mail address is the error returned?" > The error is returned to sender. Sorry for my bogus question. For which mail address in mail header(s) was the error of "error 416, invalid address" returned from your SMTP server?
Hi, My mistake, I uploaded 3.1.7 I did read the document, sorry, I do not understand it. I could muddle through following the examples but I don't know how to access the command settings. I'm delighted by the bogus question because its one I can answer : error 416 does not specify which of the 40 addresses is invalid. Thank you for the help.
(In reply to comment #5) > I don't know how to access the command settings. Do you need guide like next? (easily be found by Google search for "windows 7 command prompt") http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/947-command-prompt.html > error 416 does not specify which of the 40 addresses is invalid. It's the reason why SMTP log is needed to know which is invalid for server.
