this looks like a problem on the news server. disk space on gila looks
ok.
That's why moving it to marki.

Oh my. This is kinda late. I got paged about this at 5:50 this morning by one of
our champs. I cleaned out some really big logs and 'released' both news servers.
Please send e-mail to secnewsadmin@netscape.com or
page-secnewsadmin@netscape.com for critical problems with secnews in the future.

I sent mail to risto at 5:26 AM PST (Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 14:26:48 +0100).

Will do.
I'd like to object these alternative support models and make a note that this
is not officially supported. We have bugzilla (not email/not paging) as the
first contact for all mozilla.org server operations issues and we are working
on escalation models based on that. Non-employees shouldn't be paging us IMHO.
This is not really an alternative support model, just a means for me to be alert
ed about a possible problem very early. If the issue is not critical, nothing is
circumvented and the issue can be handled the usual way. The 24x7 staff is on p
age-secnewsadmin too, so in case of a simple problem or when I'm unavailable the
y can take care of it or escalate through normal channels.

It's just that in the case of news, problems are a lot easier to fix early on, r
ather than spend a lot of time in cleaning up the aftermath. I've experienced th
is, and believe me, this is not very pleasant. I'd rather like to have an early
warning of the problem and then decide whether it can wait.

Since the netscape champions and the mozilla users are usually pretty experience
d, I have no problem with them using our mail/paging alias. In general I have t
o say a huge thanks to the champions and mozilla users for making me aware of ne
ws problems in a very competent way. Their reports are mostly very accurate and
helpful.
