The UltraVNC settings on these boxes could be tweaked to be faster. The begin with, disabling the W7 blurry-focus thing (Aero?) seems to help. Also, I've noticed that if you open the UltraVNC properties window, it seems to activate the setting that only redraws the screen under the mouse cursor.
Turning Aero of could impact performance numbers. More importantly, now that we have Aero integration, we may not get accurate or complete testing coverage.
We already have Aero off for the 32-bit W7 systems, and to my knowledge we're not running w764 in production yet, so there would be no baseline against which to change. I'm not sure setting the VNC preferences would affect runtime, anyway - I thought that only affects what's transmitted to the VNC client?
armen, what do you think of comment #2? jhford suggests using RealVNC Professional instead of UltraVNC, which should fix the redraw problems.

It will be very very hard to tell if it could have an impact. This bug won't help FF4 so we can look at doing the change after it ships on a downtime. I am all in to have a better VNC experience. You have my blessing to do whatever you want for w7x64 before the end of Q1. I want to be doing dependent builds for Windows 64 by the end of Q1. This means we will have people watching on what we do on testing machines.

I don't think this falls under the umbrella of slaveduty. It will require some pretty rigorous testing in staging and then deployment into production.

I think VNC is working fine at this point, right?
The rev3 do but we've moved to the iX systems.
