On bod text the letter spacing shiould increase. Sounds like bug 594325. Does disabling hardware acceleration improve the readability Firefox button > options window > advanced > browsing > use hardware acceleration.
Summary: rong render of font → wrong render of font
http://mediatemple.net/webhosting/ve/tours/ is definitely better with HW accel off
