This has been a long standing problem for me, going back to early M18 nightlies, and still present as of Mozilla-0.6. Current Behavior: I can only install the PSM for Linux when running mozilla as root. Furthermore, after installing the PSM this way, Mozilla freezes for non-root users whenever the PSM is accessed/loaded/etc., for instance, by attempting to load an SSL page or by attempting to load the PSM dialog. For details on how I install mozilla and workaround this procedure, see my "Mozilla Nightly Install HOWTO" (the bug URL above). Expected Behavior: Installing PSM as root allows use of the PSM by all users.

You can install PSM only as root because you need write-access to the PSM directory. Dup of bug 36007? Fabian.

Actually, it's more likely that bug 36007 and this bug are both dupes of bug 49507. Marking this bug as such. Will add a comment to 36007. Sorry for the dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 49507 ***
