I keep my folders containing mails etc on a seperate USB drive.

Occasionally I start Thunderbird without the USB drive and I get the error: Mozilla Thunderbird is already running, but not responding. Many reports have been filed where users apparently have messed up the folder and the error message is misleading in those instances.

I suggest, that particular error message be changed from the current to: 
"Mozilla Thunderbird is already running, but not responding or Mozilla Thunderbird is unable to access all directories indicated in the .profile file."
